Unit Converter

Convert between units across 8 categories. All calculations run locally in your browser.

How to use the unit converter

Select a category from the dropdown, enter your value, choose the unit you are converting from and the unit you want to convert to, then click Convert. The result appears instantly. All conversions happen in your browser with no data sent to a server.

Supported unit categories

Length: millimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometers, inches, feet, yards, and miles. Useful for construction, travel distance, and international shopping.

Weight and mass: milligrams, grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds, and stone. Commonly needed for cooking recipes, shipping, and fitness tracking.

Temperature: Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. The converter applies the correct formula for each pair rather than a simple ratio, so results are always accurate.

Speed: meters per second, kilometers per hour, miles per hour, knots, and feet per second. Helpful for running pace, driving speeds, and weather wind data.

Volume: milliliters, liters, fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. Essential for cooking and comparing international product sizes.

Area: square millimeters through square kilometers, plus square inches, square feet, acres, and hectares. Useful for real estate and land measurements.

Data storage: bits, bytes, kilobytes through petabytes in both decimal (SI) and binary (IEC) standards. Helpful for understanding file sizes and storage capacity.

Time: milliseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. Great for project planning and scheduling.

Common conversions

1 mile equals 1.609 kilometers. 1 kilogram equals 2.205 pounds. 0 degrees Celsius equals 32 degrees Fahrenheit. 1 gallon equals 3.785 liters. 1 inch equals 2.54 centimeters. 1 foot equals 30.48 centimeters. 1 acre equals 0.405 hectares. 1 gigabyte equals 1,024 megabytes in binary terms.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my temperature conversion look different from other tools?
Temperature conversions use a formula rather than a multiplication ratio. The converter applies the correct Celsius to Fahrenheit formula (multiply by 9/5 then add 32) so results are always accurate.
What is the difference between KB and KiB?
KB (kilobyte) is 1,000 bytes in the decimal standard used by hard drive manufacturers. KiB (kibibyte) is 1,024 bytes in the binary standard used by operating systems. This difference explains why a 500 GB drive shows as less than 500 GB in Windows or macOS.
Is my data saved anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted to any server.
Can I convert between volume and weight?
Volume to weight conversion depends on the substance being measured, so this converter does not support it. For water, 1 liter equals 1 kilogram, but for other substances the density differs.
